Scholarship Description:

The purpose of the project is to study model systems in ultracold atomic gases that target different aspects of strongly correlated phenomena. As such, it will involve theoretical investigations that lie at the interface between cold atoms and correlated electron systems. It is anticipated that such a programme of research on clean, tunable many-body systems could potentially shed light on exotic phenomena found in other more complex materials such as unconventional superconductors. The London Centre for Nanotechnology provides an interactive environment in which to pursue collaborative and/or independent research. The successful candidate is expected to broaden their research experience by attending relevant lectures, seminars and discussion group meetings at UCL. They will also have the opportunity to interact with cold-atom theorists and experimentalists at the University of Cambridge.
