Full Fees PhD Scholarships for UK/EU and International Students at University of Hull in UK, 2018

For the year 2018, University of Hull is offering a full-time UK/EU PhD Scholarship or International Fees Bursary for candidates applying for the postgraduate research degrees.

The University of Hull is a public research university in Kingston upon Hull, a city in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1927 as University College Hull.

If your first language is not English, or you require a Tier 4 student visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level.

Scholarship Description: 

  • Application Deadline: April 11, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue PhD programme.
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in Environmental sciences.
  • Scholarship Award: Full-time UK/EU PhD Scholarships will include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£14,777 in 2018/19) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress.
  • Full-time International Fee PhD Studentships will include full fees at the International student rate for three years, dependent on satisfactory progress.
  • Nationality: UK/EU and International student are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following requirements:

PhD Latitudinal Forcing on Deep-Ocean Continental-Shelf Seawater Mixing:

This project is suitable for highly motivated candidates from Earth Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with a minimum BSc 2.1 or equivalent.  The successful applicant will be interested in experimental modelling and the dynamics of environmental flows; experience in numerical coding (Matlab, Python etc) is useful but not essential. A Masters degree in a related area would be an advantage.

PhD Palaeo-Environment Reconstruction from Seafloor Landscapes:

This project is suitable for highly motivated candidates from Earth Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with a minimum BSc 2.1 or equivalent.  The successful applicant will be interested in numerical modelling and flow dynamics; experience in high level coding (Matlab, Python etc) is useful but not essential. A Masters degree in a related area would be an advantage.

PhD The Ecological fate of microplastic in Antarctic marine environments – a source to sink approach:

This project is suitable for a highly motivated student with previous laboratory or field skills and a good honours degree in the geosciences, biological or environmental sciences. A Masters degree in a related area would also be an advantage.

PhD Turbulent-Laminar transitions in flows laden with cohesive sediment:

This project is suitable for highly motivated candidates from Earth Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with a minimum BSc 2.1 or equivalent.  The successful applicant will be interested in scaled experimental modelling and theoretical analysis of flow dynamics.

The Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull will provide operating and safety training for all laboratory equipment and software used. In collaboration with experts from the Universities of Bangor and Leeds, the supervisors will help support the student with a commitment to enabling independent work and developing original scientific ideas.
