PhD Studentship in Inorganic Chemistry at University of Cambridge in UK, 2018

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated PhD student with a strong academic background in inorganic chemistry to work with Prof. Dominic Wright on an investigation of the coordination chemistry of a series of commercially-available and novel ligands that are relevant to cleaning technologies.

The studentship is a 3-year EPSRC Industrial CASE award, co-founded by Procter and Gamble. The student will spend some time working with the company during their PhD.

The University of Cambridge is one of the world’s oldest universities and leading academic centres. It is made up of over 150 departments, faculties, schools and other institutions. Cambridge also has 31 colleges which are independent institutions, each with its own property and income. The Colleges appoint their own staff on their own terms and conditions and are responsible for selecting students, in accordance with University regulations.

• Scholarship Award: The studentship will provide a maintenance grant and tuition fees at the UK/EU rate, and is available to UK and EU students who meet the UK residency requirements of the Research Councils. Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements may be eligible for a fees-only award. Owing to funding restrictions imposed by the sponsor, non-EU citizens cannot be considered.

Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following requirements:

Applicants should have (or expect to obtain) the equivalent of a UK first class or upper second class honours degree (and preferably a Masters degree) in chemistry. Experience and knowledge of synthetic inorganic chemistry would be particularly advantageous.

English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.
