Scholarship Provider: Ilmenau University of Technology
Scholarship can be taken at: Germany
Eligibility:1) This position is only open for applications for the Ph.D. position (candidacy).
2) Familiarity and knowledge with the finite-difference time-domain (fdtd) method.
3) Good working knowledge and familiarity with some simulation program that uses the fdtd method such as the Lumerical FDTD Solutions or other similar programs that use the fdtd method.
4) Some basic knowledge in applying the fdtd method to simulate the optical response/properties of semiconductor nanostructures-based devices will be an advantage for the application.
5) Candidates applying for the PhD. position should have at least 1 (first author or co-author) publication in SCI-index journals. Applicants who do not meet this prerequisite criterion can also apply but priority will be given to applicants with at least 1 publication in SCI-index journals.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Applicants of Germany are eligible for this PhD Research position.
Scholarship Description: The candidate shall understand the electronic properties of semiconductor nanowires (NWs) from the theoretical point of view is an important step of controlling the optical and electronic properties in the NWs synthesized by different methods. We are interested in a suitable Ph.D. candidate/student to perform finite-difference time-domain simulations/calculations to investigate the optical, electrical and other novel properties (such as the surface enhanced Raman scattering) in semiconductor NWs as well as the electrical coupling between closely spaced NWs.
How to Apply: The mode of applying is electronically. If you fulfill the above requirements and are interested to apply for the PhD position in Germany, please email your curriculum vitae (CV) to both Professor Yong Lei (yong.lei-at-tu-ilmenau.de) and Dr. Kin-Mun Wong (kin-mun.wong-at-tu-ilmenau.de).
