Scholarship Description: The postdoctoral research position is available in the Laboratory of Molecular Membrane Biology at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. Our laboratory conducts studies on molecular mechanisms of activation of plasma membrane receptors of immune cells with special attention paid to signal transduction by receptors of Toll-like family. Among them, we focus on TLR4 which serves as signaling receptor for bacterial LPS inducing pro-inflammatory responses of macrophages. To understand how the activity of TLR4 is controlled by plasma membrane composition and raft organization, we conduct studies using multidisciplinary approaches. The postdoc will work on modifications of plasma membrane proteins (acylation) crucial for TLR4 signaling using proteomics analysis (immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, mass spectrometry analysis) and gene silencing/overexpression methods. Organization of signaling complexes of TLR4 with other proteins will be also studied using biochemical analysis and confocal microscopy with application of state-of-the-art research equipment of the Institute.
Number of awards offered: Not Known
Duration of award(s): Duration of postdoctoral research is 36 months.
How to Apply: The mode of applying is electronically or by post.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for applications is: November 15th, 2013.
