Applications are invited for KEMRI-Wellcome Trust -IDeAL PhD Studentships. Studentships are available in the following research areas: Epidemiology, Molecular Parasitology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Clinical epidemiology, Health Economics and Health Systems Research. These scholarships are open for East Africans (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia) who have at least an upper second-class Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in related fields. The studentships cover registration fees, research costs, travel costs, medical insurance and a monthly stipend. The deadline for application is 5th August 2015.

Eligibility: Applications are invited from East Africans (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia) who have at least an upper second-class Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in biological sciences, nursing, pharmacy, public health, social sciences, economics or at least a bachelors degree medicine.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Applicants from East African Region (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia) can apply for this PhD Studentships.

Scholarship Description: KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme is an internationally renowned health research Programme that is committed to developing research capacity in the East African Region. Several PhD studentship positions commencing in January 2016 are available at their Kilifi and Nairobi sites. These studentships, which are funded under the Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders (IDeAL), will provide an opportunity for East Africans to carry out their PhD studies within a high quality research environment under the supervision of internationally renowned researchers.

What does it cover? The studentships cover registration fees, research costs, travel costs, medical insurance and a monthly stipend.

How to Apply: To apply please create a new account then check your email. You will receive an email with instructions on how to login. After you login please click on PhD Application under “ADD NEW” tab on top of the page. Kindly fill in all the questions paying attention to word limits where indicated. After filling in each page you may click on PREVIEW to see the information you have just filled in then click on SAVE.
If DRAFT is checked, the information is saved but not submitted and you may edit or finish it later.
To submit please make sure DRAFT is unchecked and click SAVE. The information submitted before the deadline may still be edited but as of the deadline day it will be taken as your final submission irrespective of completion status.
