Course Level:
Position is open for undertaking research.
Scholarship Provider:
University of Oslo, Norway
Scholarship can be taken at:

Eligibility: Applicants must have at least 10 years research experience in Isotope Geochemistry/Geobiology and we are notably targeting candidates with an excellent track record in chemically linking living and fossil organisms to the global environment. The applicant should have a demonstrated ability to work independently, but integrated within a multidisciplinary team, expected to be active in establishing research funds and potentially instituting a new laboratory at the University of Oslo for measuring the stable isotopes carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen. Resilient laboratory experience is therefore requisite. The position is on a professorial level and the appointee must have been found qualified for full Professor from a recognized University. Teaching experience and student supervision is advantageous.

The position is a distinguished CEED visiting professorship, initially for three years, but renewable to the end of CEED activities (2023).The CEED vision is to develop an Earth model ? not only integrating plate tectonics and mantle dynamics ? but also the ancient environmental and climatic evolution. We are seeking an outstanding scientist that can expand CEED research into new avenues at the cross-point between geology, geochemistry and biology. Biogeochemical consequences of large igneous provinces, mechanisms for rapid greenhouse gas release, mass extinctions and how carbon isotope composition of fossil land plants and fossil organic matter can be used to infer climate change in ancient ecosystems is of specific interest.
