OSGC Education Scholarships in USA, 2015-2016

The Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) is offering Education Scholarship for US Students. These scholarships are available to full-time undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate students in the College of Education at an OSGC participating college or university. The Education Scholarship is a one-year award of $2,000 and is paid during the academic year. Women and underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply. The application deadline is October 15, 2015.

An Exploration of Proportion and Scale for Algebra I, Inquiry-based and Discovery Learning in Mathematics, Ecology on Mars, Creating a Self-Sustaining Ecosystem, Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion, Using Proportions and Ratios to Create a Model of Solar System, Exploring the Orion Spacecraft, Modeling Orbits in the Solar System, Newton Car, Applications of Ellipses, Geometry and Rockets and Discovering Properties of Stars: Color, Luminosity, and Temperature.
Course Level: Scholarships are available to full-time undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate students in the College of Education at an OSGC participating college or university (Cedarville University, Central State University, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Marietta College, Miami University, Ohio Northern University, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, The University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, The University of Toledo, Wright State University and Youngstown State University).

Eligibility: To be considered for a scholarship, students must be citizens of the United States pursuing certification and licensure in a Science- or Mathematics-related teaching discipline at one of the given certification grade levels. Women and underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Open for International Students: US students can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: In an effort to increase the number of students entering the teaching profession, the OSGC offers financial support through competitively awarded scholarship opportunities to full-time undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate students in the College of Education at an OSGC participating college or university.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are awarded during the school year at your home campus. Scholarships may be renewable for the following year if the student’s academic performance is acceptable, good progress has been made on the education research project with plans for the following year, and upon approval of the Campus Advisor/Mentor.

What does it cover? Education scholarships are $2,000 and are awarded during the school year at your home campus.

Selection Criteria: Selection is competitive and will be based upon the applicant’s academic record, written letters of recommendation, and the applicant’s personal objective statement and education project proposal. Separate evaluation of applicants and award of scholarships will take place at each member university.

Notification: Written notification of award of scholarship will be mailed in Fall, 2015.

How to Apply: To be considered for the 2015-2016 Education Scholarship Program, a complete application package consisting of the materials listed below must be submitted by October 15, 2015. Prospective applicants are expected to discuss the program with their university’s Ohio Space Grant Consortium Campus Representative before completing the application. Campus Representatives are listed on the reverse side of this Announcement.

-One completed Letter of Recommendation or Education Scholarship Recommendation Form
-Transcript(s)
-It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain application materials and to request Letters of Recommendations and transcripts in sufficient time to meet the application deadline. There will be no exceptions for late applications.
