The uOttawa-GLUK-UWISON Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Health Research is is offering a one-year contract, to be based at the Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), Kenya. Citizens of Sub-Saharan Africa can apply for this fellowship. This award will support one postdoctoral fellow for 12 months of full-time mentored training onsite in Kisumu, Kenya at the Great Lakes University of Kisumu, including one-month participation in the GLUK international research internship. The application deadline is October 26th, 2015.

Eligibility:
-Demonstrated keen interest in a long-term research career in community or environmental health or health systems research relevant to low- and middle-income country contexts;
-Completion of PhD (within 5 years of position start date) in health sciences, public health, community health, epidemiology, or other relevant discipline;
-Publication of at least two articles in peer reviewed journals;
-Confirmation of availability to reside onsite in Kisumu, Kenya for the full duration of the postdoc period;
-National of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Scholarship Description: The uOttawa-GLUK-UWISON Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Health Research is a one-year research award, intended to actively support junior researchers who have the passion, commitment, and leadership capacity to address urgent global health challenges.  At the University of Ottawa, a bilingual public research university, the fellow will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Nancy Edwards, a distinguished professor in the School of Nursing, Principal Scientist with the Institute of Population Health, and Senior Scientist, Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute. Her clinical and research interests are in the fields of public and population health, specifically multi-level and multi-strategy interventions development and evaluation. Great Lakes University of Kisumu was originally established through the Tropical Institute of Community Health (TICH). In 2012, The Centre for Excellence in Health Systems Research was also established based on its unique strength of an approach to applying research through practical action with local communities, focused on the most vulnerable. It is a leading university in health sciences and community health and development teaching, research and service learning.

Number of award(s): There is only one postdoctoral fellowship.

Duration of award(s): This award will support one postdoctoral fellow for 12 months of full-time mentored training onsite in Kisumu, Kenya at the Great Lakes University of Kisumu, including one-month participation in the GLUK international research internship.

What does it cover? Fellow will receive USD $15,000 per annum (award amount is based on a full-time commitment for 12 months and will be prorated accordingly if postdoc terminates before completing 12 months). Also eligible to apply for up to USD $5,000 in research-related funds upon approval of postdoc supervisors. No relocation funding is available.

Conditions: All Fellows are required to adhere to host university policies and procedures and government regulations.

How to Apply: All of the following documents must be submitted by email by the deadline of October 26th, 2015 in order to be considered: Application documents:
-Completed application form including names of 3 references;
-Curriculum vitae;
-Two-page personal statement (describing your background, statement of your research interests; career plans and goals, and motivation for applying);
-PDFs of your top three publications (minimum requirement is two publications).
-Letters of References: Two of your listed references must submit the Form for Referees by the deadline.
