2016 PhD Research Fellowship in Language Technology at University of Oslo, Norway

University of Oslo is inviting applications for PhD research fellowship in language technology. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Natural Language Processing, or in Computer Science with a specialization in NLP. The fellowship will  be for a period of 4 years, with 25 % compulsory work (teaching responsibilities at the Department), assuming sufficient teaching skills. Otherwise, the fellowship will be for a period of 3 years, with no compulsory work. The application deadline is 15 November, 2015.

Eligibility:-The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
-Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Natural Language Processing, or in Computer Science with a specialization in NLP.
-The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
-The fellowship requires admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The application to the PhD programme must be submitted to the department no later than two months after taking up the position.   

Scholarship Open for International Students: Norwegian and foreign citizens can apply for the fellowship.

Scholarship Description: A position as PhD Research Fellow in Language Technology is available at theDepartment of Informatics, University of Oslo. The fellowship will  be for a period of 4 years, with 25 % compulsory work (teaching responsibilities at the Department), assuming sufficient teaching skills. Otherwise, the fellowship will be for a period of 3 years, with no compulsory work. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is funded by SIRIUS (Center for Scalable Data Access in the Oil and Gas Domain), a new Center for Research-Driven Innovation (SFI) at the University of Oslo. It constitutes a long-term research initiative, funded by the Norwegian Research Council involving both academic research teams (UiO, NTNU and Oxford University) as well as industrial partners. The center has as its main goal to develop novel technologies to improve our ability to extract and exploit information from large data stores in the oil and gas domain. The position is hosted at the IFI Language Technology Group.
