The University of South Florida is offering Dr Abdul Abdul Kalam Fellowship for Indian students to help cover tuition fees. The fellowship is available to an Indian graduate student to pursue a PhD degree at the University of South Florida.
Dr Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship is announced in honor of President A.P.J. Kalam. President Kalam was a strong advocate for young people and a passionate supporter of clean energy and energy independence.
The University of South Florida’s mission is to deliver competitive undergraduate, graduate and professional programs to generate knowledge, foster intellectual development and ensure student success in a global environment.
To apply to this scholarship, applicant must have completed graduate degree programme. Applicant must also have academic credentials and a passion for the STEM fields of study.
Course Level: Scholarship is available for Indian graduate to pursue a PhD degree in USA from 2017/2017 academic year onward.
Study Subject: One scholarship is available for prospective Indian graduate student seeking to pursue a PhD degree at the University of South Florida.

Scholarship Award: The University of South Florida will:
-Waive all tuition for a total of up to four years,
-Contribute a stipend of $18,000 over the nine months of the fall and spring semesters ($2,000 per month) for up to four years. The Provost’s Office will pay a nine month stipend for the first year with the department/college contributing a teaching/research assistantship for up to an additional three years,
-The total stipend amount will be payable by USF once the winner of the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Postgraduate Fellowship at the University of South Florida is enrolled at the university for his/her first term,
-All other costs (e.g., airfare, housing at USF, etc.) will be met by the awardee.

Eligibility: -The student award will be offered to an Indian graduate student seeking to pursue a PhD degree in the following subject/discipline at the University of South Florida: Applied Anthropology, Applied Physics, Business PhD programs, Cell Biology, Microbiology & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Engineering, Criminology, Integrative Biology, Marine Science and Psychology
-Applicant must have exceptional academic credentials and a passion for the STEM fields of study.
-Applicants must demonstrate experience in his or her discipline, research productivity, and professional contributions and achievements to the field.
Nationality: Indian graduates can apply for this scholarship.
College Admission Requirement: Applicant must have completed graduate degree programme.
Entrance Requirement: All candidates must have submitted a USF graduate application and established a university ID number at the USF graduate admissions portal.
Test Requirement: All freshman applicants are expected to take the following tests:
The ACT Assessment plus the ACT Writing Test or
The SAT Reasoning Test with critical reading, mathematics, and writing scores from the same sitting.
English Language Requirement: A proficiency in English will be critical to your success. Universities generally require one of the following proficiency exams from all international students coming from non-English speaking countries:
-International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
a score of 7 or higher on the academic module
-Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
a score of 83 or higher on the Internet-based test (iBT)
a score of 550 or higher on the paper-based test (PBT)
