The College of Arts and Humanities (CoAH), Swansea University offers number of scholarships to UK, European and international students. Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD degree program at Swansea University.

This scholarship aims to assist high achieving and highly motivated international students.

Founded in 1920, Swansea is a vibrant research-led university. Swansea University has a clear vision to be a research-led university of international quality.

If you are applying for a research degree (excluding Master’s by Research), you should hold or expect to achieve a minimum of an upper second class honours degree (2:1), or equivalent. English Language requirements are normally listed in terms of formal IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

Course Level: Swansea University is offering a number of scholarships to full-time PhD students.

Study Subject: Scholarships are available for prospective students commencing the PhD studentship in The College of Arts and Humanities.

Scholarship Award: The studentship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees only. These positions are open to all, but please note that only UK/EU tuition fees will be covered by the scholarship. International students are welcome to apply, but will be required to pay the difference between the UK/EU fee level and the international fee level.  There will also be an additional £600 available for research expenses.

Eligibility: Both UK/EU and international students are welcome to apply for this scholarship. In order to apply for scholarship, you must follow the given criteria:
-Candidates must be highly motivated and should have an MA degree in a relevant subject area (such as Landscape History, Landscape Archaeology, Historical Geography and/or Medieval History), as well as an excellent undergraduate degree. Relevant work experience may be considered in place of an MA qualification.
-Applicants should be highly proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems and database management. Evidence of this proficiency will be required during the interview stage.
-These positions are open to all, but please note that only UK/EU tuition fees will be covered by the scholarship. International students are welcome to apply, but will be required to pay the difference between the UK/EU fee level and the international fee level.

Nationality: Both UK/EU and international students are welcome to apply for this scholarship.

Entrance Requirement:
To be considered for postgraduate study you must satisfy the University’s general entry requirements as well as any specific requirements for your chosen programme.
-If you are applying for a research degree (excluding Master’s by Research), you should hold or expect to achieve a minimum of an upper second class honours degree (2:1), or equivalent.
-Non-graduates are not eligible to apply for a research degree.

Test Requirement:
Not Required

English Language Requirements: English Language requirements are normally listed in terms of formal IELTS (International English Language Testing System). This is because IELTS is widely available at thousands of testing centres worldwide.

Research Scholarships

Supporting Material: Students have to complete the College of Arts and Humanities Research Scholarship Application Form ?and return, along with a CV, covering letter and research proposal.

How to Apply: The student fills out and sends the application form to/via post or by e-mail.

To apply for this studentship, please complete the  College of Arts and Humanities Research Scholarship Application Form ?and return, along with a CV, covering letter and research proposal. The research proposal should be no longer than 500 words, and detail the innovative methods of Historic Landscape Characterization you would consider exploring, as well as some key research aims relating to the historic and cultural development of the South Wales region. Proposals covering the Swansea Bay region would be particularly welcome.
