Swansea University offers Landscape History and Archaeology: Fees Only PhD Studentship in 2016-2017 academic session. Applicants of any nationality are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Award: The studentship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees only. These positions are open to all, but please note that only UK/EU tuition fees will be covered by the scholarship. International students are welcome to apply, but will be required to pay the difference between the UK/EU fee level and the international fee level. There will also be an additional £600 available for research expenses.

Eligibility:–These scholarships are open to students from the UK, EU and overseas.
-Both UK/EU and international students are welcome to apply for this scholarship.
-Candidates must be highly motivated and should have an MA degree in a relevant subject area (such as Landscape History, Landscape Archaeology, Historical Geography and/or Medieval History), as well as an excellent undergraduate degree. Relevant work experience may be considered in place of an MA qualification.
-Applicants should be highly proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems and database management. Evidence of this proficiency will be required during the interview stage.

To be considered for postgraduate study you must satisfy the University’s general entry requirements as well as any specific requirements for your chosen programme.

Supporting Material: The research proposal should be no longer than 500 words, and detail the innovative methods of Historic Landscape Characterisation you would consider exploring, as well as some key research aims relating to the historic and cultural development of the South Wales region. Proposals covering the Swansea Bay region would be particularly welcome.
