University of Bergen is pleased to offer Research fellow (PhD candidate) in pure mathematics for the year 2016. Norwegian applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

Course Level: Fellowship is available for pursuing PhD research programme.
Study Subject: Fellowship is awarded in the field of pure mathematics. These fields are algebra, algebraic geometry, mathematical analysis and topology.
Scholarship Award: The fellowship covers:
–a good and professionally challenging working environment
-salary at pay grade 50 (code 1017) in the Civil Service pay grade table; currently NOK 430 500 gross p.a.. Further promotions are made according to length of service in the position.
-Enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund
-an inclusive workplace (IW)

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship:
-The applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, and must also satisfy the requirement for entering the PhD. programme at UiB .Candidates are invited to apply if they plan to complete their final master`s exam by 30 June 2016. Employment will then be postponed until the master’s degree is obtained.
-You must be proficient in both written and oral English.
-You must be able to work independently and in a structured manner and to demonstrate good collaborative skills.

-a brief account of their research interests and motivation for applying for this position
-the names and contact details of two referees. One of these may be the main supervisor for the master`s thesis or equivalent thesis.
-CV
-diplomas and grade transcripts showing completion of bachelor’s and master’s degrees
-If they have not yet completed theirr master`s degree, please submit a statement from their institution confirming the expected date of the award of their master`s degree. Their master`s degree must be documented with transcripts and/or diploma, alternatively a confirmation from their institution on completed degree and their grade, by 30 June 2016.
-a list of any works of a scientific nature (publication list)
-publications (if any).
