A 2.5 year position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, Norway. This is awarded to Norwegian and foreign applicants to undertake postdoctoral programme.

A good command of English is required for all students attending the University of Oslo. International students; PhD research fellows and postdoctoral research fellows who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English.

Course Level: Fellowship is provided for postdoctoral programme.

Scholarship Award: The fellowship will comprise: Position code 1352 (Postdoc), Pay Grade: 57-64 (from 483 700 to 550 400 NOK/year, depending on qualifications and seniority)).

Eligibility: Eligibility criteria is:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates will be selected in accordance with this, and are expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials. Applications are encouraged from dedicated candidates with excellent writing skills and the ability to work in a highly team-orientated environment.
-The successful candidate should have a PhD degree or the equivalent awarded by a Geoscience, Physics, Geophysics, Mathematics, Hydrology or Computer Science faculty, with experience in hydrology and numerical modeling in particular wrt snow. Experience with processing and displaying of large data sets in time and space is beneficial. The successful candidate should further demonstrate:
-Technical expertise in one or more programming language(s), in particular experience with C++ is considered a strong advantage. Scripting skills (e.g. Python/Matlab or      likewise are required)
-Good communication skills and the willingness to manage tasks and project deliverables in an international research environment
-Evidence of creativity and capability of independent research

Nationality: Norwegian and foreign applicants can apply for the fellowship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: The successful candidate must have completed a PhD degree within South Asian studies or a relevant discipline within the humanities or social sciences. Applicants with background in religious studies, history, social anthropology or South Asian language studies are particularly welcome.

Test Requirement: Not Required

English Language Requirements: A good command of English is required fr all students attending the University of Oslo. International students; PhD research fellows and post-doctoral research fellows who are not native speakers of English, must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the following internationally recognized tests
-TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
-IELTS – International English Language Testing Service
-Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge
-Applicants to the programme for the PhD degree in Science must obtain a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based) on the TOEFL test, or a minimum score of 6.5 from the  IELTS (academic) test. The same applies to applicants for postdoctoral research fellow positions.

International Fellowships

Supporting Material: The application must include:
Application letter including a statement of research interests
-CV (summarizing education, positions and academic work, and other qualifying activity)
-Copies of educational certificates and transcript of records
-If available, a copy of the PhD thesis
-List of other academic works and publications and/or awards and stipends that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee
-Names and contact details of 2-3 referees (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number)
