Newcastle University is offering Research Excellence Academy PhD Studentships in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences for 2016-17 academic year. UK, EU and international applicants are eligible to apply for this studentship.

The university is governed by a number of statutory bodies. The Executive Board comprises the senior management team that has oversight of the day-to-day running of the University.
Applicants have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes, and are wholly or partially self-financing. Applicants need a good level of English language to study at Newcastle University. This is usually a test score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, but requirements can vary between IELTS 6.0 to 8.0. All students need at least 5.5 in each sub-skill, or equivalent.

Scholarship Award: £1 million in PhD studentships in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Each studentship includes the UK/EU rate of tuition fee and£14,057 living expenses per year (2016 – 17 Research Councils UK rate).

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship:
-The studentships are open to UK, EU and international applicants who propose to study for their PhD on a full-time basis.
Applicants must:
– Hold at least a good upper-second class UK undergraduate degree and a Master’s level qualification, or their international equivalents
– Be commencing their first year of a full-time PhD with the University in the 2016/17 academic year.
Current Newcastle University PhD students
– Students in their second year of study are eligible to apply if they were self-funded in their first year.
– Self-funded part-time students in their first or second year of study are eligible to apply if they change to full-time status.
Nationality: UK, EU and international applicants are eligible to apply for this studentship.
College Admission Requirement

Supporting Material: In order to be eligible applicants had to submit the following documents: When applicants submit their application, they should include copies of certificates or transcripts to confirm their degree or highest qualification. If any of their documents are in another language they will need to supply certified English language translations. If they are from outside the EU, they will also need to include a copy of the personal details page from their passport.
