The Department of Chemical Engineering at University College London (UCL) is happy to announce PhD studentship in chemical engineering for the year 2016. UK/EU/Overseas applicants are eligible to apply for this studentship programme.

The scheme aims to provide one new research student per year with the exceptional opportunity to work within their chosen research field to undertake a PhD programme at a world-class research institution.

The UCL provides modern educational and research environments that will enable students and researchers to face current challenges and to focus on knowledge as a principle driving force for development.

Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Course Level: Studentship is awarded for pursuing PhD programme.

Study Subject: Studentship is awarded in chemical engineering.

Scholarship Award: Studentship of £16,500 + UK/EU/Overseas fees will be awarded.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for studentship:
-Applicants should be confident that they are able to demonstrate outstanding academic performance before applying for this scholarship scheme. Applications should be supported by a CV, a personal statement specifying you are applying for the Stern Scholarship and which research subject you are interested in (approx. 1000 words and a maximum of 2 pages), and three recommendation letters and must be submitted via the UCL PRiSM portal.
-The successful candidate will receive written confirmation of their scholarship by 1 July 2016. Any offer of a PhD place will be conditional on a final interview by the Department and – if applicable – on the candidate receiving the required qualifications.
-The candidate will have or be expected to obtain a First Class Honours degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, physics or an associated discipline. The ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment that tackles questions across various fields of Chemical Engineering is expected. Effective written and verbal communication skills, good time-management, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a team are essential.
