Applications are invited for Conservation Internship at National Gallery of Denmark for the year 2016. Candidates for internship should be students of a recognized training programme in conservation or have equivalent training. SMK does not offer financial support for interns, and external funding is therefore required. SMK will offer letters of support for fundraising for the accepted candidate. The internship length is from six to twelve months and start in January or September.

Field of Internship: The Conservation Department comprises three studios caring for a) paintings, b) drawings & prints, and c) contemporary art & objects. The internship program offers students an opportunity to develop and refine their skills through the examination and treatment of works of art under the guidance of professional conservators.

Eligibility: Candidates for internship should be students of a recognized training programme in conservation or have equivalent training. Candidates must have Danish or English language skills. Internships are given without regard to age, sex, nationality, or race.

Internship Open for International Students: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply for this internship programme.

Internship Description: Since 1971 the Conservation Department at Statens Museum for Kunst, the National Gallery of Denmark has offered internships that have enabled students and graduates of conservation programmes to participate in the museum’s objective to research and preserve the rich and diverse collections. The Centre for Art Technological Studies and Conservation – CATS – is part of the department and is a collaborative venture between Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK), The National Museum of Denmark (NMD) and the School of Conservation (SoC) at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.
