The Experimental Particle Physics (EPP) group at the University of Sussex is accepting applications for a Fully Funded studentship available to UK and EU nationals on the ATLAS experiment for a September 2016 start.
The successful applicant will work with an international team led by Sussex to analyze data collected with the ATLAS detector in 2016 and beyond, measuring the coupling strength between the Higgs boson and the top quark using novel jet substructure techniques.

If applicant’s first language is not English or applicants have not recently completed a degree in an English-speaking country, they will normally be expected to have passed an appropriate test in English, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), successfully pass university’s Pre-sessional English course or have a qualification that confirms their English level.
Course Level: Studentship is available for pursuing Ph.D. program.
Study Subject: Studentship is awarded on the ATLAS experiment.
Scholarship Award: Studentship covers £14296 (2016-17) per annum tax-free bursary and waiver of UK/EU fees each year for 3.5 years. Full-time study.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this studentship:
- Applicants must hold, or expect to hold, a UK Bachelor degree in Physics at first or upper second class, and/or a UK Master’s degree in Physics, or equivalent non-UK qualifications. A good standard of written and spoken English is essential.
- Due to funding restrictions, the studentship is open to UK and EU resident students only. However, we also welcome applications from self-funded non-EU students.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants should hold (or expect to hold before the start date) a degree in physics with a strong record in experimental or theoretical particle physics.
English language Requirements: A good standard of written and spoken English is essential.
