Curtin University is inviting applications for Strategic International Research Scholarships. These scholarships will be awarded to new international future students planning to commence their doctoral studies in 2017.

The Curtin University provides modern educational and research environments that will enable students and researchers to face current challenges and to focus on knowledge as a principle driving force for development.

Curtin University is Western Australia’s largest university. Around 40,000 students attend a total of 16 Curtin locations, including campuses in Sydney, Singapore and East Malaysia. Its mission is to change minds, lives and the world through leadership, innovation and excellence in teaching and research.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing a postgraduate research programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded with one of the areas: Curtin Business School (CBS) (Energy Economics, Sustainable tourism, Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Enterprises, Luxury Branding); Faculty of Health Sciences (Biosciences & Metabolic Health, Neurosciences & Behaviour, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences, Biosciences & Metabolic Health); Faculty of Humanities (Sustainable Human Environments, Knowledge Innovation and Creative Economy); Faculty of Science and Engineering (Geosciences, Chemical & Environmental Sciences, Mechanical  & Chemical Engineering).

Scholarship Award: Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarship (CSIRS) provides:

• Course tuition fee for three years for a Doctoral degree; and
• Basic single overseas health cover (OSHC) for the recipient; and
• A stipend equivalent to that of the APA valued at $26,288.00 (2016 value) per annum tax-free for the duration of your study.

Eligibility: In order to apply for scholarship, applicants must follow the given criteria:

• Applicants must be an international student (excluding New Zealand);
• Scholarships are merit base, research must align with at least one of the Strategic research areas and applicant must be commencing a higher degree by research in 2017 for the first time;
• Applicants must be studying for their first PhD;
• Applicants must meet English language requirements for the chosen course of study by 5 Sep 2016;

Nationality: International students (excluding New Zealand) can apply for these scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants will be required to demonstrate the following entry requirements to be considered eligible candidates:

• The applicant has previously studied for a minimum of four years in a tertiary institution.
• The applicant meets the eligibility criteria of the Graduate Studies Committee for the proposed study enrolling area/s.
• The applicant and proposed supervisor have confirmed with the Head of Enrolling Area that the necessary supervision and facilities required can be adequately provided to support research.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: Applicant has reached an appropriate level of proficiency in the English language to complete research. Applicants who do not presently meet the level of English language proficiency to their higher degree course may wish to consider the English Language Bridging (ELB) course run by Curtin English.

Research Scholarships

How to Apply: Please use application form attached if:

• Applicants are currently enrolled at Curtin and fit into the guidelines under ‘Eligibility criteria’;
• Applicants already have an offer of admission at Curtin for Research Term 1, 2017 and have not yet commenced.
• Applicants already have an offer of admission but it is not for Research Term 1, 2017. As long as you have contacted Curtin International Office to defer to Research Term 1, 2017 and been advised that you can do so, you can use this form. If not, you will have to re-apply for admission and scholarship via the link below.

Note: Interested applicants but have not yet applied for admission can submit an online e-application for admission and scholarship.
