Applications are invited for Science News Internship for people planning careers in science writing for fall and spring. Preference is given to people completing an advanced degree in journalism with an emphasis in science writing. This is an unpaid internship program. Interns receive $600 per week. Internship application deadline lines are June 10, 2016 (fall 2016 internship) and Oct. 14, 2016 (spring 2017 internship).
Field of Internship: Interns work as full-time science writers under the guidance of Science News editors and writers. Based in Washington, D.C., Science News reports scientific findings and trends occurring worldwide. Interns generate many of their own story ideas, reporting and writing several articles per week, including news stories and longer features.

Preference is given to people completing an advanced degree in journalism with an emphasis in science writing. Skilled writers working toward an advanced degree in one of the sciences and experienced journalists in transition to a science specialty are also considered.

Internship Description: Science News, the award-winning magazine covering all fields of science for a general readership, is now accepting applications for its science writing internships. Interns work as full-time science writers under the guidance of Science News editors and writers. Based in Washington, D.C., Science News reports scientific findings and trends occurring worldwide. Interns generate many of their own story ideas, reporting and writing several articles per week, including news stories and longer features.
Number of awards offered: One applicant will be selected for each period.
Internship Duration: The internship is intended for people planning careers in science writing and is offered three times a year for at least a three-month stay within the following periods: spring (January to April) and fall (October to December).
