Fully Funded PhD Studentship in Poetry, Fine Art and New Media at Loughborough University, UK

Loughborough University is pleased to announce a fully funded PhD studentship connected to the research of Dr. Ahren Warner based in the School of the Arts, English and Drama.

The School offers an exciting interdisciplinary research environment and welcomes the submission of high-quality proposals that have the potential to make a substantive contribution to either practice-based or critical research on historical or contemporary dialogues between poetry, visual art and media technologies.

Loughborough University is a public research university located in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, in the East Midlands of England. It has been a university since 1966, but the institution dates back to 1909, when the then Loughborough Technical Institute began with a focus on skills and knowledge which would be directly applicable in the wider world.

The standard University IELTS English language requirements is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some departments may require higher levels English language.

Course Level: Studentship is awarded for pursuing PhD programme  in the School of the Arts, English and Drama.

Study Subject: Studentship is available in the field of Poetry, Fine Art and New Media

Scholarship Award: The studentship will be paid for a period of up to three years, starting 1st January 2017. It will cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate, and provide a tax-free stipend of £14,296.

Eligibility: Applicants should have

  • A first class or good upper second class Honours de-gree in English, Fine Art or a related area
  • A Master’s degree (preferably with merit or distinction (or their overseas equivalents)). Applicants whose Master’s results are pending will be considered.
  • Applicants must also meet the University’s English Language requirements
  • International (non-EU) students may apply, however the total value of the studentship will be used towards the cost of the International tuition fees. Any remainder will be paid to the successful candidate as a reduced stipend.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: A good undergraduate degree and masters level qualification, or equivalent experience, is expected.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: The standard University IELTS English language requirements is 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each individual element (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Some departments may require higher levels English language (see below in Approved Qualifications).

How to Apply: Application requires the submission of a detailed research proposal (ap-proximately 2,000 words), and the names and contact details of two academic referees. To make an application, use the online application form. Under programme name please select ‘English’ and quote reference SAED/AW17 in the funding section of the form.
