Monochrome Photography Awards conducts an annual competition for professional and amateur photographers. Our mission is to celebrate monochrome visions and discover the most amazing photographers from around the world.
The winners of the Professional and Amateur categories will receive the titles: Monochrome Photographer of the Year and Monochrome Discovery of the Year along with cash prizes. We are open to all points of view, all levels of expertise, and all ideas of black and white photography.
General conditions
- Only black and white photographs will be accepted to the contest. Toned images (like sepia, selenium, etc.) will be also accepted.
- Images may be captured using film or digital.
- To enter, you must upload your Entry at the following website: www.monoawards.com following the on-screen instructions carefully.
- There is no limit to the number of individual images each artist may submit.
- Images that have won prizes in other competitions or that have been submitted in other competitions currently underway are eligible.
- There is no time or date restriction on when the image was taken.
Files must meet the following specifications:
– sRGB or Adobe98 colour space, 8-bit;
– Longest dimension should not exceed 900 pixels (minimum 600px width);
– Saved as a JPEG at a setting of 10 (100%) or higher.
– No Watermarks / Copyright Units / Logos on images
– Only bleed photographs without borders
Winning Entrants must be able to provide a high-resolution digital file (minimum 2000px [email protected]). This file will be used only to prove the ownership of the image. Winning Entrants who do not fulfill these eligibility criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified without the right to appeal.

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrant must be the sole copyright owner of all photographs entered and must have obtained the permission of any people featured in the entries (or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured). Further, the entrant must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.
Winners’ names will be published online.
Copyrights & usage rights
Copyright of the images will remain at all times with the photographer.
Images will be used strictly in connection with the awards and will not be used for any other marketing purposes other than to promote Monochrome Awards. Images will not be resold or used by any other third party. If there is a request for such, we will forward that request to the photographer via e-mail.
To promote winners of each category Monochrome Awards is granted the right to display images on social network websites (on our official profiles) including Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
Deadline
Monochrome Photography Awards 2017 are open. Save on Entry Fees – Early Deadline is July 9, 2017.
Prizes
Cash prizes will be paid in USD by PayPal. Any fees incurred for foreign currency transfers will be deducted from the winning amount.
Judging conditions
Entries will be judged by nominated judges.
Images will be judged on artistic merit, originality, subject, and style.
The decision of Monochrome Awards is final.
Overall winner of professional section will receive:
- $2,000 cash prize
- Title: Monochrome Photographer of the Year 2017
- Showcased at the online Winners Gallery
- Featured Article on www.MonoVisions.com
- Your work included in the Monochrome Photography Awards Annual Book.
- Extensive press coverage
- Winners logo and certificate
Overall winner of amateur section will receive:
- $1,000 cash prize
- Title: Monochrome Discovery of the Year 2017
- Showcased at the online Winners Gallery
- Featured Article on www.MonoVisions.com
- Your work included in the Monochrome Photography Awards Annual Book.
- Extensive press coverage
- Winners logo and certificate
Winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of each category will receive:
