BECAL Scholarships for Paraguayan Students in UK, 2018

The University of Bath is pleased to offer scholarships for Paraguayan students. Scholarships provide new opportunities for students to undertake funded doctoral programmes at the University of Bath.

The University of Bath is a public university located in Bath, Somerset, United Kingdom. It received its royal charter in 1966, along with a number of other institutions following the Robbins Report.

Scholarship Description:

Scholarships are available to undertake funded doctoral programmes at the University of Bath.
Study Subject:
The agreement covers all areas of studies.
Scholarship Award:

  • Paraguayan students admitted to the University and selected by BECAL will have their tuition fees reduced by the University for a period of four years, subject to the student’s satisfactory progress.
  • BECAL will pay the reduced tuition fee, a training support fee as required, and up to 10 weeks of a pre-sessional English and study skills course for any student who has been fully accepted, but wishes to improve their English and communication skills before starting their programme. Additionally, BECAL will provide the student with a stipend to cover living expenses.
  • The student shall be responsible for covering the cost of accommodation, all travel expenses, insurance, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), books, equipment, and other incidental expenses.

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: Paraguayan students (South America) are eligible to apply.
Entrance Requirements: To be eligible for the BECAL funding, applicants must be Paraguayan, or naturalised, and aged up to 40 years old. Applicants should apply for admission to the University, following the normal application procedures and meeting all the standard admission requirements. The closing date for applications to Bath is 15 January 2018.

On the application form, students will need to give:

  • Personal details
  • Passport details if they need a Tier 4 visa
  • Date students plan to start
  • Plans for finance and funding
  • Education details
  • Proof of English level if English is not your first language
  • Details of intended research and the names of your intended supervisors
  • The names and contact details of your referees, including at least one from academia if you have been studying recently
  • Supporting information

Please do provide all of the necessary supporting information listed below. If you don’t submit this, we will ask for it later and if you don’t provide it, we won’t be able to assess your application.

  • A scan of undergraduate degree certificate and your postgraduate degree certificate (if you have one)
  • A scan of degree transcript and your interim degree transcript (if you are still studying)
  • Two references (one must be from the institution where you have studied most recently)
  • The name, or names, of your intended supervisors (up to three)
  • Details of your proposed research
  • An up-to-date CV
  • An indication of your funding plans
