University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship in New Zealand

Applications are inviting for doctoral scholarships for students to undertake a doctoral degree at the University of Waikato. The Scholarship is open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international students. A candidate already enrolled in a doctoral degree at the University of Waikato can apply. Scholarship applications will only be considered once the applicant has received an Offer of Place to study for a doctoral qualification at the University of Waikato. The deadline of application: 31 October (for Round 1) and 30 April (for Round 2).

Eligibility: For this Doctoral Scholarships applicant must have:
-be seeking to obtain their first doctoral qualification
-be already enrolled in a doctoral degree at the University of Waikato
– be intending to study full-time at the University of Waikato.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The Scholarship is open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international students.

Scholarship Description: As part of our commitment to postgraduate research, the University of Waikato provides Doctoral Scholarships for students to undertake a doctoral degree at the University of Waikato.

Duration of award(s): The total term of the Doctoral Scholarship will not exceed three years of full-time doctoral enrollment (or equivalent for part-time study). The Scholarship will end after its full term or upon the recipient’s completion of doctoral study, whichever is the earlier date.

What does it cover? The value of the Scholarship shall be a living allowance of up to $22,000 per annum , payable in monthly installments, and the domestic tuition 1 fees for enrollment in the doctoral program during the term of the Scholarship. The living allowance will be paid on a pro-rata basis for approved part-time students. A thesis preparation grant of up to $400 is available to assist with thesis printing costs provided the thesis is submitted within four years of the commencement of doctoral enrollment. The value of the Scholarship may be revised at the discretion of the University.

Selection criteria: Scholarship applications will only be considered once the applicant has received an Offer of Place to study for a doctoral qualification at the University of Waikato.

How to Apply: Applicants must submit an “Application to Enroll” to apply to study a doctoral qualification at the University of Waikato prior to, or at the same time as, applying for a Doctoral Scholarship.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The Applications for a Doctoral Scholarship can be submitted at any time of the year. There are two processing deadlines: Round 1: normally for study commencing no earlier than 1 January in the year following application, all application documents must be received by 31 October.
Round 2: normally for study commencing no earlier than 1 July in the year of application, all application documents must be received by 30 April.
