Available Scholarships for Florida State University (FSU), 2016

Need to get FSU scholarships at but don’t know where to start? The Florida State University (commonly referred to as Florida State or FSU) is an American public space-grant and sea-grant research university located in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. A scholarship is a very good way to finance your studies and enables you to fully concentrate on getting your degree instead of worrying about money issues. Getting into college is tough enough. Then you’ve to figure out how to pay for it. College scholarships are a great way to pay for college without taking any debt.

The College of Business awards two types of scholarships i.e. college-wide scholarships and department scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate students.

College-Wide Scholarships

Each year the College of Business Scholarship Committee awards a number of scholarships to upper-division business majors. Awards are made on an academic year basis covering both the fall and spring semesters. Scholarship awards range from $1000 to $1,500 per academic year and are distributed in two equal installments, one at the beginning of the fall semester and one at the beginning of the spring semester. The College of Business application period begins in the spring semester with a deadline date in April. The following are the available scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students:
1). College-Wide Scholarships For Undergraduate StudentsThe following are the college wide undergraduate scholarships:
-Bank of America Scholarships
of $1500 are available to US students who have at least a 3.0 FSU GPA.
-College of Business Achievement Scholarship of $1500 supports students who have completed at least 24 semester hours of upper-level business courses prior to the beginning of the awards period.
-E. Ray Solomon Scholarships of $1500 for students who have demonstrated academic and professional promise.
-Martin Mayhew Scholarships of $1250 for African American, a U.S. citizen and a Florida resident who have a financial need.
-Darden Restaurants Scholarships of $1000 give preference to non-traditional students and students who come from an economically disadvantaged background.
-Joseph A. Gangloff Scholarship of $1000 for US students who have cumulative FSU GPA of 2.5 overall or 3.0 in major.
-Owens Scholarship of $1000 to US students who demonstrate academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities.

2). College-Wide Scholarships For Graduate Students: The following scholarships are available for graduate students:
-Colonel James R. Douglass Graduate Fellowship ($5,000): Fellowship is awarded to US citizens. The eligible applicant must be pursuing a full-time MBA, must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 and must be current or former military personnel.
-Dennis & Kathy Newman Endowed Scholarship ($1,500): Eligible applicant must be a US citizen and have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2. Preference will be given to those who are majoring in Finance.
-Haddad Scholarship ($1500): Applicant must be a US citizen pursuing full-time MBA, have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 and have financial need. Preference given to students interested in international business
-Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Graduate Scholarship ($1500): Student must have a U.S. citizen and be an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2.
-Jim King Scholarships ($1,000): Student must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher and be a U.S. citizen. The primary selection criteria are academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities.
-Robert Bruce Graduate Fellowships ($1,500): For this fellowship, applicant must be a U.S. citizen and have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
-Helen Craig Wardlaw MBA Assistantship & Scholarship ($1,500): Student must be a female pursuing a full-time MBA and have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. The primary selection criteria are academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities. Preference will be given to support women interested in pursuing careers in banking or financial services.

Department Scholarships

There are a number of scholarships awarded by each of the following college’s departments: Department of Accounting, Department of Finance, Department of Management, Department of Marketing and the Department of Risk Management/Information, Real Estate & Legal Studies. These awards are typically restricted to majors within each department.

1). Department of Accounting Scholarships: The Department of Accounting awards a number of fellowships to applicants with strong academic credentials. Currently, fellowships are $1,500 per year, payable in equal installments over three terms. Under department of accounting there are Assistantships, Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) Scholarship, Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) Scholarships, James Wilcox African American 5th Year Scholarship and Walter A. Friedly Memorial Scholarship.

2). Department of Finance: The Department of Finance awards a number of scholarships to MSF students. The department also award various scholarships for undergraduate students who have a declared major in finance and indicate they will continue to pursue a degree in finance. These scholarships range $500 per semester and are awarded for the full academic year.

3). Department of Management: For undergraduate students, the department awards Kirk Belle Cocke Hassell Scholarship up to $2000 for students who normally must have a least a 3.25 FSU GPA. The department also awards Jeanie Cannan Vidaurreta Scholarship to both undergraduate and graduate students and its eligibility criteria includes but is not limited to the following: GPA and GMAT scores; focus disadvantaged and minority students and Marguerite N. Williams Presidential Scholarship to support undergraduate and graduate information management systems students with criteria based on academic merit, leadership and/or community service.

4). Department of Marketing: There is a C. Ferrell Marketing Excellence Scholarship at $500) available for both undergraduate or graduate students. Richard Baker Memorial Marketing Scholarship at $1,500 and Sales Advisory Board Scholarships are available to top undergraduate students.

5). Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Legal Studies: The department scholarships in real estate are announced and applications requested each spring for the following academic year. These scholarships are typically awarded at the beginning of the fall semester, and the recipients announced in the fall at the Real Estate Networking & Trends Conference and the College of Business awards banquet.

International Programs is pleased to offer over $130,000 worth of following scholarships annually. Availability of all scholarships will be subject to funding.
-International Programs Anniversary Scholarship includes $75,000 for Florida State students who study abroad. Florida State degree-seeking students who have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better may apply for this need and merit-based scholarship.
-International Programs Achievement Scholarship of $20,000 annually to the creme de la creme of the FSU student body. Florida State degree-seeking students who have an overall GPA of 3.8 or better may apply for this merit-based scholarship.
-International Programs Spring Break Program Scholarship for high achieving students participating on FSU International Programs spring break programs.
-Minority Scholarship can be applied toward a fall and spring semesters in Florence, London, Panama City or Valencia. Nationally, less than twenty percent of those who study abroad are minority students. In an effort to help more minorities study abroad, the Florida State University has offered a Minority Scholarship for over twenty years.
-Spring Break Programs Scholarships are short trips that complement a course being offered in Tallahassee during the spring semester.
-William Cullen Klein Memorial Scholarship, a new scholarship awarded in Spanish and Chinese. FSU International Programs will determine the amount of each scholarship; this scholarship is merit-based, and is available for FSU student participating on the summer Tianjin program.
-Multi-Term Discount for students who have completed 18 or more credit hours on programs administered by the International Programs Office, with a 3.0 average or greater in course work at the international location(s), are eligible for discounts for subsequent IP programs. Scholarships are $500 for summer sessions or $1,000 for fall or spring semesters.
