Computer Science/Information Technology: KESS PhD Studentship in UK, 2016

Swansea University is inviting applications for computer science/information technology. PhD studentship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a stipend. The bursary will be limited to a maximum of £14,002 p.a. dependent upon the applicant’s financial circumstances as assessed in section C point 4 on the KESS II Participant Proposal Form. There will also be additional funds available for research expenses. The application deadline is 28th August 2015.

Eligibility:  Candidates are also required to have the following skills and experience:
-Microsoft dot Net programming – database connected web apps
-Android app development
-Excellent oral and written English.
-Willingness and ability to communicate with NHS professionals
-Desirable skills and experience:
-Microsoft SQL programming
-Microsoft Server administration
-Understanding of health services research methods
-Ability to communicate in Welsh

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of UK/EU can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description: These scholarships may potentially be funded by the European Social Fund by a KESS 2 programme currently in development – however, this is yet to be confirmed. If this is not funded by a KESS 2 project these scholarships will be funded by the appropriate College at Swansea University. The project will digitise a paper-based health monitoring instrument. We shall then test reliability, validity and obtain service users’ views before exploring integration with NHS electronic systems. The West Wales Adverse Drug Reaction (WWADR) Profile1,2 for mental health medicines is clinically effective in paper form3-5. We will be working with a local company to digitise it as a monitoring and reporting instrument, customised to users’ needs.
