The scholarship is available to students currently enrolled at an accredited university in the United States. International students studying in the United States are eligible, but they will have to demonstrate their intention to stay in the country after graduation and see through their change-making agenda. The deadline for the 2016 scholarship is 31st December 2015.

AYN Rand offer an array of educational programs to enable students at all levels of knowledge to learn about Ayn Rand’s philosophy and novels. The Anthem Essay Contest is open to students in 8th, 9th and 10th grade. ARI has held worldwide essay contests for students on Ayn Rand’s fiction for thirty years. This year we will award over 500 prizes totaling more than $90,000. Last date to apply is March 25, 2016.

Annual Signet Classic Scholarship Essay Contest

This contest is open to 11th and 12th grade full-time matriculated students who are attending high schools located in the fifty United States and the District of Columbia, or home-schooled students between the ages of 16-18 who are residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia. Void where prohibited by law. All state and local restrictions apply. There are five (5) prizes available to be won. Each prize includes a check in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) to be used toward winner’s tuition and/or expenses related to their higher education. Laste date to apply is April 14, 2016.

John A. Lent Scholarship in Comics Studies

The John A. Lent Scholarship in Comics Studies is open to current students who have authored, or is in the process of authoring, a substantial research-based writing about comics. The Scholarship is subject to the condition that the recipient present a half-hour talk, based on her or his research, during ICAF. The award consists of up to US$500 in kind to offset the cost of travel to and/or accommodations at the conference. A commemorative letter and plaque are also awarded. No cash is awarded.

RespShop.com will award five scholarships: one $1,500 scholarship and four $500 awards to the students, who write the most insightful essays about snoring, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, or CPAP therapy. This application is only open to college undergraduates, graduate students, and high school students who plan to attend college within the following seven months. Those who apply MUST attend school within the following year to receive any scholarship award. Applicants already in college must have a grade point average of 2.0 or better to apply. Essays must be submitted by January 31, 2016.

MajGen Harold W. Chase Prize Essay Contest

This contest is sponsored by the Marine Corps Gazette; the MajGen Harold W. Chase Prize Essay Contest is open to all Marines on active duty and to members of the Selected Marine Corps Reserve. The contest honors the essay that proposes and argues for a new and better way of “doing business” in the Marine Corps. Prizes include $3,000 and an engraved plaque for first place, $1,500 and an engraved plaque for second place, and $500 for honorable mention. All entries are eligible for publication. Applications will open from 1 Jan. to 30 May.

The Minority Science Writers Internship

This program places minority students interested in journalism as a career and who want to learn about science writing at Science Magazine for 10 weeks over the summer. Interns experience what it’s like to cover the scientific and technological issues that shape our global community. The internship is open to any minority undergraduate with a serious interest in science writing. Preference will be given to those students pursuing a degree in journalism. Applicants must be enrolled in an academic program at the time they submit their application. Application deadline is 1st March, 2016.

Alba George Watt Memorial Essay Contest

The Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA) is pleased to announce the continuing annual competition for the George Watt Memorial Essay prizes.  Two prizes of $250 each will be awarded, one in the undergraduate and one in the graduate category. Work will be judged on the basis of originality, quality of research, and effectiveness of argument or presentation. Please note the following contest guidelines: Submissions must be between 3,500 and 7,500 words; Submissions may be in Spanish or English; Submissions must have been produced to fulfill an undergraduate or graduate course or degree requirement (please specify course, degree, and institution; for thesis chapters, please add a thesis abstract); and Any work produced since January 2014 is eligible for the competition.

Fryxell Scholarship

The scholarship is to be awarded to young scholars who wish to study the humanities. As English professors, the Fryxells had a special affinity for literature and the pursuit of an elegant and excellent use of the English language. Therefore, special consideration is given to candidates with an interest in studying English and/or journalism.  Incoming first-year students are invited to apply. This is a $1,000 scholarship and is renewable. Application and supporting materials must be received by February 15.

Lycoming College Creative Writing Scholarships

In order to apply for this scholarship students must intend to major in creative writing. The is a $3,000 scholarship renewable each year. Students must submit five poems and/or a short story no longer than 10 pages. All entries are due to the Office of Admission by March 15th.

Thomas G. Labrecque Smart Start Scholarship Program

Each year, 10 high school graduating seniors across New York City become part of the Thomas G. Labrecque Smart Start Scholarship Program. To be eligible for this award, you must: be a high school senior, be a New York City resident who attends a public, parochial or private high school in one of NYC’s five boroughs, be planning to major in business, communications, computer science, engineering, liberal arts or social science (life science majors are not eligible). Tax laws vary by country. In the United States, scholarship funds used exclusively for the payment of tuition or textbooks are normally not taxable. The scholarship recipient is responsible for taxes, if any, that may be assessed against your scholarship award. Scholarship application deadline is Feb 01, 2016.

The Jacqueline Woodson Fellowship For a Young People’s Writer of African or Caribbean Descent

The Jacqueline Woodson Fellowship for a Young People’s Writer of African or Caribbean Descent is offered once annually to a writer of African or Caribbean descent starting the Solstice Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing Program during the winter residency/spring semester. Fellowship recipients will receive a $1,000 award toward their first semester’s tuition. Fellowship applications are due September 13th (not a postmark date; materials must be received in our offices before or on September 13th).
