NHS Education for Scotland’s (NES) Optometry Directorate offers up to twenty NES Primary Care Ophthalmology scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic session. Applicants of UK are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This is awarded to undertake online distance learning MSc programme.

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so. University accepts all of the English language qualifications for entry to the University, including IELTS qualifications from any IELTS test center.
Course Level: Scholarships are provided for online distance learning MSc programme at University of Edinburgh.
Study Subject: Scholarships are available for MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology.
Scholarship Award: The scholarship will have a total value of 50% of course fees which will be deducted from the annual tuition fee for the part-time MSc programme of study.

Eligibility: The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit and evidence of a commitment to a career in primary care optometry/ophthalmology. To be eligible to apply:
-The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on to the online distance learning MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh. Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.
-Applicants must be optometrists registered with the General Optical Council and be working in the Scottish NHS, either as a community or hospital optometrist, and be resident in Scotland.
Nationality: Students of UK can apply for these scholarships.
College Admission Requirement: The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit and evidence of a commitment to a career in primary care optometry/ophthalmology. Applicants without an excellent or very good classification of undergraduate degree (equivalent to first or upper second class honours in the UK) but who have the relevant work experience (3-5 years) will be considered on a case by case basis.
English Language Requirements: All students of every nationality are required to prove their English language competence. Even native-speakers of English must demonstrate that they meet our minimum language requirements to gain entry to the University. University accept all of the English language qualifications for entry to the University, including IELTS qualifications from any IELTS test centre. Applicants who require an IELTS test as part of an application for degree-level studies may take this test at any IELTS centre.
Supporting Material: -In order to be considered for the programmes, you are required to send the completed application form, two references, copies of degree transcripts, degree certificate and English Language qualification.
-Applicants should supply as many supporting documents as possible. However, if you have not yet received your English language qualification or final results from your academic institution, you can still apply and send these documents at a later date. Please note that your place will not be secured until you provide all the supporting documents required.
How to Apply: The mode of applying is online. Please note you will not be able to access the online application form unless you have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh and have full EASE authentication. In addition to the standard questions on the application, applicants should also provide the following information within their application:
-Details of any potential conflicts of interest arising from work or personal relationships with staff of NHS Education for Scotland, the University of Edinburgh or the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
-Your GOC number and Health Board List Number. Please list the Health Board(s) with which you are registered
