University of Oslo fellowships are made available for the most outstanding Norwegian and foreign applicants. It is awarded to undertake postdoctoral program by the university.

The particular project of this position announcement is concerned with developing application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) with the aim of fully integrating the electronics that controls sub-probes of sounding rockets that are released into the ionosphere while the rocket is in flight in a System-on-Chip (SoC).

Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in microelectronics or similar subjects with experience in ASIC design in CMOS technology.

Scholarship Award: Pay grade: 60 – 65 (NOK 510 100 – 560 700 per year)

Eligibility: All applicants must be classed as international students for fee purposes. Eligible students should have:
-Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in microelectronics or similar subjects with experience in ASIC design in CMOS technology. Prior experience with sensor interfaces in particular, but also radiation hard design, wireless communication, low power design, layout synthesis and other relevant areas for the specific project context will be an advantage. If you will finish your PhD degree before March 30th 2016 you are also allowed to apply. Add the transcripts of the status of your studies now and you will be asked to supply your final degree’s documentation later.
-The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
-The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.

Nationality: Norwegian and foreign applicants can apply for the fellowship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: To be eligible for admission to a PhD programme at the University of Oslo, you must have a relevant five-year Master’s degree with a good grade, or equivalent qualifications approved by the faculty. The faculties may impose additional qualification requirements.

Test Requirement: Not Required

English Language Requirements: A good command of English is required of all students attending the University of Oslo. International students; PhD research fellows and post doctoral research fellows who are not native speakers of English, must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the following internationally recognised tests
-TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
-IELTS – International English Language Testing Service
-Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge
-Applicants to the programme for the PhD degree in Science must obtain a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based) on the TOEFL test, or a minimum score of 6.5 from the  IELTS (academic) test. The same applies to applicants for post doctoral research fellow positions.

International Fellowships

Supporting Material: The application must include:
Application letter
-Summary of academic specialization and statement of research interests (at most 1 page)
-CV (summarizing education, positions and academic work – scientific publications)
-Copies of educational certificates, transcript of records and letters of recommendation
-A complete list of publications and up to five papers or other relevant academic works that the applicant would like to be considered by the evaluation committee.
-Names and contact details of 2-3 references (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number)
-Foreign applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their University’s grading system. Please remember that all documents should be in English or a Scandinavian language. Applications with documents missing will not be considered further.
