University of Strathclyde is offering Research Studentship Scheme – Student Excellence Awards from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council for 2016-2017 academic year. These PhD studentships are offered annually to students commencing their postgraduate studies.
For more than 200 years, the University of Strathclyde has been meeting the needs of students, employers, industry and wider society through research, teaching, business and enterprise.
IELTS is the most widely available, and current standard requirements are: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5).
Course Level: Studentship is available for pursuing research programme.
Study Subject: The University administers these funds under the Strathclyde Research Studentship scheme and awards at least 45 PhD studentships annually for students commencing their postgraduate studies in Engineering and Physics Sciences.

Scholarship Award: University offers home fee and stipend for eligible candidates and also helps with equipment and study costs, tuition fees, and living costs.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Strathclyde Research Studentship Scheme
-Academic qualifications: A good honours degree at first-class level
Residential eligibility: Research Council (RC) fees and stipend can only be awarded to UK and EU students and not to EEA or International students.
-EU students are only eligible for RC stipend if they have been resident in the UK for 3 years, including for study purposes, immediately prior to starting their PhD.
-If an EU student cannot fulfil this condition then they are eligible for a fees only studentship.
-International students cannot be funded from RC funds unless they are ‘settled’ in the UK. ‘Settled’ means being ordinarily resident in the UK without any immigration restrictions on the length of stay in the UK. To be ‘settled’ a student must either have the Right to Abode or Indefinite leave to remain in the UK or have the right of permanent residence in the UK under EC law. If the student’s passport describes them as a British citizen they have the Right of Abode.
-Students with full Refugee status are eligible for fees and stipend.
Nationality: UK and EU applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
College Admission Requirement : The Student Excellence Awards are awarded to students with, or who are expected to obtain, a 1st class honours with an outstanding emerging academic track record, with internal and external recognition and a proven commitment to the field of study are eligible to apply.
English Language Requirements: University accepts a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English. IELTS is the most widely available, and current standard requirements are: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5).
