Applications are invited for Central Asia-Azerbaijan Fellowship Program for fall 2016. Applicants from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan and currently reside in one of the six countries are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

The aim of the George Washington University Central Asia-Azerbaijan Fellowship Program is to enable and encourage academically able applicants.

Central Asia study program is aimed at developing high-quality scientific research on modern Central Asia, and aims to become a bridge between the expert and political community by providing a platform for discussion uniting Politi-cal, scientific, diplomatic and business circles.

Applicant must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Course Level: The Central Asia-Azerbaijan Fellowship Program (CAAFP) is intended for young professionals – scholars, government officials, policy experts, human rights and political activists – who want to enhance their research and analytical skills and seek to become public policy leaders in their respective countries.

Study Subject: The theme for the fall 2016 session is: Economies and Societies in Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

Scholarship Award: Fellows will be awarded a monthly stipend of $3,000 (subject to taxes). Travel to and from Central Asia to Washington, DC, as well as visa and health insurance costs, will also be covered.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this fellowship:
-Applicant must be between 25 and 40 years of age.
-Applicant must be a citizen of any of the following six countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan and currently reside in one of the six countries.
-Background in government, policy, academia, human rights, or democracy.
-Academic candidates must possess a Master’s degree and have experience in policy-oriented activities. For non-academics an equivalent degree of professional achievement is expected.
-Applicant must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Nationality: Applicant must be a citizen of any of the following six countries:

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Academic candidates must possess a Master’s degree and have experience in policy-oriented activities. For non-academics an equivalent degree of professional achievement is expected.

English language Requirements: Applicant must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Application Deadline: Applications for the Fall Session (August 15, 2016 – January 15, 2017) should be received no later than Friday, April 29, 2016. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applicants will be notified by email by the end of May 2016.
