Edna Money Future Pacific Leaders’ Scholarship at University of Waikato, 2016

University of Waikato is offering up to three undergraduate scholarships to academically talented Pacific students who demonstrate significant leadership potential. The recipients will participate in a tailored leadership and personal development programme. The value of each Scholarship will be $6,000 per annum for up to three years. The award will be paid in two equal installments annually. The application deadline is 15 September 2015.

Eligibility: To apply for this scholarship
-Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and of Pacific Island descent.
-Applicants must be enrolling at the University of Waikato for the first time in 2016.
-To be eligible for consideration for the award of the Scholarship, applicants must provide evidence of their: (a) academic achievements, and (b) leadership experience
-Offers of the Scholarship will be conditional upon the recipients achieving: (a) Admission to the University of Waikato, and (b) Admission to their program of study.

Scholarship Open for International Students: University of WaikatoNew Zealand citizens or permanent residents and Pacific Island descents are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The Edna Money Future Pacific Leaders’ Scholarship was established in 2014 to provide academically talented Pacific students who demonstrate significant leadership potential an opportunity to study at the University of Waikato. Edna Money was a Morrinsville farmer and accountant who bequeathed the sum of $1 million to the University of Waikato in 2013 to benefit Pacific students. The purpose of the Edna Money Future Pacific Leaders’ Scholarship is to provide support for students to achieve academically in a programme of study at the University of Waikato and to develop leadership skills through a tailored leadership and personal development programme. The Scholarship can be applied towards tuition fees or charges for accommodation in the University’s halls of residence

Number of award(s): Three scholarships will be offered annually for full-time undergraduate study.

Duration of award(s): The tenure of the Scholarship will be up to three years.

What does it cover? The value of each Scholarship will be $6,000 per annum for up to three years. The award will be paid in two equal instalments annually. The first instalment of $3,000 will be paid at the commencement of the A semester and the second $3,000 instalment at the commencement of the B semester. The Scholarship will be applied to tuition fees or halls of residence accommodation costs.
