Applications are invited for SAFE scholarship from students or young researchers living in France or Australia in the area of nuclear science and technology applied to life sciences. The duration of the visit can be between 2 and 8months, depending on the requirements of the hosting team, the project and other constraints related to overseas training. A major portion of the Australian project must be carried out at ANSTO. The application deadline is 4 November, 2015.
Study Subject(s): Scholarship is awarded in the following area: “Developing nuclear science and technologies applied to the investigation of physiopathological variations in response to external challenges”.
Course Level: Scholarship is available for carrying out a research project at ANSTO in Sydney, Australia, or the host institution in France.
Scholarship Provider: The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) and the Embassy of France in Australia (Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action)
Scholarship can be taken at: Australia and France
Eligibility: Applicants must be:
-Enrolled as a student for a Master’s degree by research in a French or Australian university OR
-Enrolled as a PhD student in a French or Australian university or
-Enrolled in a co-tutelle PhD between French and Australian institutions or
-Holding a post-doctoral position in a French or Australian university or research institute
and
-Carrying out a research project which stimulates research collaborations between France and Australia in the following area: “Developing nuclear science and technologies applied to the investigation of physio-pathological variations”
Scholarship Open for International Students: Researchers living in France or Australia are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: ANSTO and the French Embassy in Australia are supporting a scholarship program which aims to facilitate exchanges of students or young researchers living in France or Australia and working in the area of nuclear science and technology applied to life sciences. A project which can start in February 2016 is recommended. Projects available at ANSTO to be announced soon.

What does it cover? The scholarship provides a maximum funding of $20,000 AUD, and contributes to the costs of the trip and/or accommodation for the duration of the project at ANSTO in Sydney, Australia, or the host institution in France.
Selection Criteria: A panel, consisting of representatives of the Embassy of France in Australia and ANSTO, will select recipients based on the criteria listed below:
-Candidate’s background knowledge in nuclear sciences;
-Track record of candidate (depending on level);
-Career development of candidate in view of future use of nuclear science & technology
-French institution/team track record;
-Future relationships / partnerships opportunities;
-Collaborative contribution;
-Research project aligned with thematic of the scholarship and SAFE objectives;
-Stimulating research collaborations between France and Australia;
-Funding scheme and participation level;
-Project outcomes and benefits for both parties;
-Relationship (continuity) and collaborative prospects, incl. future funding opportunities.
Notification: The candidates will be notified during the first half of December 2015 and posted on the website of the Science and Technology Section of the Embassy of France in Australia.
How to Apply: The application form and supporting documents must be received at the Embassy of France in Australia either by email (scanned documents) or by post.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 4 November, 2015.
